How to Use a Tesla Referral Code

Tesla referrals work through links, not coupon codes. Here's how to use each referral link on this site: the free FSD month, the solar referral, and the demo drive.

For Tesla owners. Open the link on your phone; the trial is accepted in the Tesla app. This is the site owner's referral link, and Tesla may reward the owner if you subscribe after your trial.

Free month of FSD (Tesla owners)

  1. Open the FSD referral link on your phone. The trial is accepted in the Tesla app.
  2. Let it open in the Tesla app. If it opens in your browser, touch and hold the link and tap "Open in Tesla".
  3. Accept the trial for your car.

Solar or Powerwall order (first-time customers)

  1. Open the solar referral link. Tesla's referral page shows $400 off Tesla Solar Panels & Powerwall.
  2. Click Order Now under Solar Panels & Powerwall.
  3. Enter your address and average electric bill to get a system recommendation.
  4. Check the order summary for the referral before you pay, then place the order.

Use solar referral

Demo drive

  1. Open the demo drive link. Tesla's booking page shows "Referral Applied" at the top.
  2. Pick a model, then a location and time near you.
  3. Enter your details and submit.

Referral not showing up? Try this

  • Start over from the referral link. Don't use a bookmark or a tesla.com tab you already had open.
  • Use one browser and one device from start to finish.
  • Turn off strict tracking protection or ad blockers for tesla.com, then reopen the link.
  • Check that you qualify. The FSD trial is for current owners; the solar referral is for first-time Tesla customers.

Tesla's terms say referral links can't be applied after an order is placed.

Common questions

Where do I enter a Tesla referral code?

Usually nowhere. Tesla doesn't have a coupon box. You use a referral by opening the referral link, and Tesla carries it through.

Can I use more than one referral?

Not for the same thing. Each Tesla account can use a purchase referral once, and FSD trials have their own eligibility rules.
